About us

 

DJC1 Planning provides consultancy and training in planning, regernation, urban design, heritage and community engagement. It also provides leadership and management consultancy for third sector organisations, national and local. The practice is a recognised Historic Environment Service Provider under the IHBC's HESPR scheme.

Previous and current clients include Design Council CABE, Locality, Hochtief Murphy Joint Venture (Crossrail), English Heritage, The Ironbridge Institute, The Civic Trust and various local authorities and private sector clients.

 

Portrait of Dave ChetwynDave Chetwyn is the Director of DJC1 Planning Limited and a Director of Urban Vision Enterprise CIC. He has more than 23 years’ experience working in planning and regeneration in the public, private and third sectors. He has also held various leadership managmenets and governance roles at UK national and local levels. He is also a Design Council CABE Enabler. Other roles include Vice-Chair of the National Planning Forum, Planning Chair with Civic Voice, and a member of the Historic Towns Forum Executive Team.

Former roles include Head of Planning Aid England, UK Chair of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation, Chair of Urban Vision North Staffordshire and a team leader in local Government.

He has also been involved with a range of government groups, reviews and parliamentary select committees concerned with planning, regeneration, economic development, heritage protection, urban design, state aid and community engagement.

Dave is a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, a full member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation and a fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management. He has MAs in Town Planning and Architectural History.

 

Associates

 

David Williams MSc, LLB, MRICS is a chartered quantity surveyor and commercial manager working in the construction industry. He has a wide experience of projects in all sectors of construction including both building and civil engineering sectors together with heritage projects ranging from refurbishment of semi derelict residential property with a project value of less than £500k to major refurbishment of the grade 1 listed Paddington train shed with an overall project value approaching £50m. David has also carried out the commercial role on projects up to £100m involving the full range of procurement activities through to agreement of final accounts and resolution of contractual issues in connection therewith.

With a background that encompasses both the surveying and legal disciplines, David is uniquely positioned to provide a service that includes both project delivery and also advice on contractual matters in relation to construction activities. David also undertakes training for a major client involving contract administration and dispute resolution.

 

 

Portrait of Stacey SykesStacey Sykes, BA Arch Cons graduated with a first class honours degree in Architectural Conservation from the University of Derby and also has an HND in Interior Architecture. She is an associate member of the IHBC.

Her career has involved working within both architectural practices and within historic building consultancy practices. She has worked on a number of significant conservation projects, providing detailed technical advice, drawings and subsequent documents for planning submissions relating to the historic built environment. She has provided advice written and verbal advice to the private sector for a variety of issues relating to the historic built environment.

Stacey has also been the team leader of the Barnsley Planning Advisory Committee. She is a volunteer for SAVE Britain’s Heritage and is a member of the Barnsley Civic Trust and the Potteries Heritage Society.
