- Accredited Building for Life assessor
- Developed design and heritage training for CABE, the Civic Trust, Urban Vision North Staffordshire and a range of national conferences, including the RTPI Urban Design Conference
- Written local authority design policy,and guidance, including district wide design strategies and policy, and site-specific design briefs
- Chairman of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation, the UK professional body for conservation experts and practitioners
- Contributed to national design guidance for the Home Office and DCLG
- Participated in various government stakeholder and working groups concerned with urban design and related matters
- Advised on numerous major schemes, including comprehensive hospital
and town centre redevelopments
